Excellent materials are used throughout, including the case. Reminds me of a rugged Casio calculator case. Japan still makes the best electronics! Nice trick they did with the calibration potentiometers, access through the board. Top one is for DCV, near the middle is ACV. The door is oh-so easy to operate and protects the meter from hazards in a drawer or in your pocket. A real winner for basic multimeter duties. The display is beautiful, just like all Sanwas!

Informative Review, as usual and a nice finding. Especially considering the price (next to 15 €) for a fully working autoranging DMM with 10000 counts, sufficient precision in every range and effective diode- (LED-) test and EF detection. Maybe not the "one to go to for every use" device, but for sure a nice additional, fancy looking DMM. Probanly pretty useful for educational purposes, too. Slava Ukraini!

This was my first DMM and still is the one that I use today personally. In work I have had all sorts of Fluke meters and other high end makes, but I never felt the need to replace this as my personal meter. Especially as my Uncle who was an electrician gave me it as a present way back in the early 1990s.

I can say it is a multimeter from the black oscillating tube inside the black multimeter.

Quite capable for everyday use. That NCV antenna definitely did the trick, considering how poorly it usually goes. And you know what they say, double the flashlights = double the fun. 👍

WOW! No cobbed ICs! Giant, glowing numbers! One of the worst in the "smart" performance, and all the beeps can be annoying to be real. If only had a rechargeable battery since it seems to be pretty bright, expect to go through batteries! Looking forward to seeing those test leads in action.

4 out of 5, you have to be kidding, OH! wait you are not, what the heck. It will never get on to any shopping list of mine at any price.

These type meters though improving still seem to be more flash and gimmick with good function in some areas and no so much in others - limited by relay delay, limited low end resolution still no tilt stand mainly im guessing because the bottom lead jack location prevent it. Dont think these will ever be as rock solid in basic functionality as a more traditional designs.

I swear that display design strongly resembles the Aneng 621 minus the touchscreen, in the chassis of Aneng SZ01

This has the feel of a start trek communicator! 🖖Evidently this is the ANENG SZ02 v1.3 in plain black with color-filtered inverse display. (The v1.6 actually works much better). The package box is identical. This meter doesn't have the ANENG's red backlight alert for NCV, high current or volts, I would miss that feature. ▪I also find the power is turned on accidentally... not sure why the buttons have to be so tall! ▪Each lead measures 80 milliohms, which is the reason they get warm.▪The beeper volume can be reduced by changing R18 from 10 ohms to a higher value (I used 33 then kept going to 75 ohms), this also increases battery life. ▪My unit came with the NCV input jack bent the wrong way! I replaced it with a coil spring. 💡During the tear-down, did you notice the independent split leads on the current input which automatically detects that you plugged in the current lead? Pretty cool idea, never saw it anywhere else before. 👍 Although quirky, this meter is a good value and all the ranges work as promised. Looking forward to your test lead review👏

The bar graph works very good! Usually disallowing charging is for electrical safety and noise-related measurement error. The newer UNI-T meters have a gorgeous pointer, this plain black wheel is looking very dated. What is the consensus about why there is a (!) beside select? Seems like that button should have been plain white with larger font for readability and silkscreen anything additional beside the button. Another great review Darren!

A few additional facts. The leads are about 20 milliohms each. The backlight and flashlight are switched together. I was able to test my largest capacitor 22 mF which is far above the max spec 2mF. The number of counts exceeds 1999 in some modes. The manual states any measurements below 0.2 mH are for reference only. My experience is the meter reports 00.00 for anything below 0.1 mH. No NCV or live wire. The meter does MIN & MAX. Some modes have auto ranging, but no manual override. Auto power off can be defeated by holding REL while turning on. The power switch is a true physical two-mode, not a soft switch. The buttons are low profile, not likely turned on by mistake. The display is recessed so it won’t scratch easy.

Do a continuity test from one end of the wire to the sensor. If it beeps, you have a good connection if not..You need to replace the wire.

There's certainly more than a few situations where this could come in handy.

So they named a multimeter after the battery...the only good thing about it is the safety cert and nothing else really...Everlast would be another car battery brand! If you can, you might want to test battery testers!

I'm surprised the yellow/black DMM got through US customs; Fluke has a patent on that color combination.

For that kind of money, you can get yourself a Habotest HT108 and still have enough left for a cheeseburger. Habotest at least has audible continuity, not to mention a backlight. But I really enjoy this kind of videos, where you just go to a store, grab a meter and review it. ♥

I would have thought that it should at least have a continuity check mode. Even the Aneng an101 has that and that is the cheapest DMM I know of.

This brand name, "EverStart" was used on automotive batteries back in "the day" (may still be for all I know). The reason for my comment is that we used to call this brand NeverStart. This used to be the Hyper Tough 10711WDI. Evidently Walmart decided a few years back that any electronic related should be grouped with the brand they chose for automobile batteries.

Where’s the blue test lead?

[7:19] OL on a 7106 based device? How on Earth? Is it a brand new variation of this chip? PS, [10:54] it does not look like a 7106! Either a much later chip or an entirely different family, like on modern ANENGs. My device is made in 2013 and based on a simple 7106.

Have you tested the Canadian Tire ones? I actually like the little blue single button chewing-gum-pack-sized one. When it is on sale. But I haven't opened mine up.

I have the similar one from Harbor Freight ($5.00 plus tax) Got it for fun. Not going to displace the Fluke & the rest of the gang on my shelf, but it's fun!! Heck, these meters are great little presents for kids interested in bread board projects and need a DMM. They are decently accurate and if it helps promote education, science, math, and the study of electricity, then it is a VALUABLE INVESTMENT on your youth.

I have the same (or almost the same) device branded TOPEX. Unfortunately, its original chip was completely burnt... but it's a 7106 😀, any 7106 will fit with enough wires.

Yeah well...its cheap. This is one of those products that exist because you are young, don't know any better, and find yourself needing a multimeter right now at 8 o'clock at night on a Sunday. At least it is reasonably safe.

If you will have a chance, please review UT207B. Is so advanced and not so expensive for what it offer, but is not a cheap meter. Greetings from Romania!

I bought one these SPE3051s from Banggood . It had 1.5v noise spikes on a 12v output at 1A load. I have never used it again.

Just got a 325 and I am wondering how I can check if the wires for my garage door sensors are OK or not with this multimeter... I'm pretty sure my logic board is fried but I want to test the wires that connect to the sensors to make sure those are fine - I tried installing new sensors but I get the same result.
